(Macau).- The Court of Second Instance has again prevented Las Vegas Sands from registering a trademark that uses the words “Cotai Strip”. In a May 30 judgement made public this week, the judges said Las Vegas Sands couldn’t register the “Cotai Strip Cotai Shuttle” trademark.

The court sided with the objections raised by Melco Crown Entertainment, saying “Cotai Strip” simply denoted a geographical area and that “shuttle” indicated a kind of service.

The court has already rejected the company’s attempts to register “Cotai Strip Cotaiticketing”, “Cotai Strip CotaiExpo”, “Cotai Strip CotaiArena” and “Cotai Strip CotaiTravel” as trademarks.
