(Macau).- VIP room gaming promoter Asia Entertainment & Resources (AERL) saw its unaudited rolling chip turnover for March soar by 36 % year-on-year, reaching us$ 1.77 billion.

For the first quarter, AERL’s rolling chip turnover was us$ 5.38 billion, up 32 % year-over-year.

The Nasdaq-listed company said the increase in rolling chip turnover was attributable to organic growth, increasing cage capital from retained earnings and the May 2011 opening of a VIP room at the new Galaxy Macau in Cotai.

The company operates two other VIP rooms, at StarWorld and Venetian Macao, respectively. “Play volumes continue to be strong in our VIP rooms and we continue to expect double-digit growth in rolling chip turnover for 2012,” said AERL Chairman Lam Man Pou.
