In May, gamblers provided gross revenues of us$ 3.038 billion

Macau’s gross casino revenues total us$ 12.9 billion in first five months of 2011

(Macau).- Gross revenues from casino gambling activities in Macau from January to May posted growth of 43.1 % year-on-year to us$ 12.916 billion, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

oth in accumulated terms and from month to month the monthly growth rates of gross gaming and gambling revenues have been a minimum of 33.2 % in January and around 40 % in the remaining months.

In May, gamblers provided gross revenues of us$ 3.038 billion, which represented growth of 42.4 % on the same month of 2010.

At the end of the first quarter of 2011, there were 33 casinos in Macau, 20 of which were owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, three by Venetian Macau, five by Galaxy Casino, three by Melco/PBL Jogos (Macau) and one each by Wynn Resorts and MGM Grand Paradise

On 15 May, Galaxy Casino opened a large tourism and gambling complex on Taipa Island, called Galaxy.
