SJM sees Macau revenue on the rise

(Macau).- Macau casino operator SJM Holdings Ltd. said that its first-half net profit fell 40.8% from a year earlier, as gaming revenue declined due to increased competition and Beijing's visa restrictions on visitors from mainland China.

But the company said the second half of 2009 has "started well, with total gaming revenue in Macau rising significantly."

SJM Holdings, which is controlled by Macau gambling magnate Stanley Ho, said its net profit for the six months ended June 30 was us$ 43.61 million.
