Us$ 294.4 million were reported in bets in the first quarter of the year

The Panamanian games of chance sector increases its incomes

(Panama).- Panamanian games of chance industry reported us$ 294.4 million in the first quarter of the year, an increment around 10 % with regards to the same period last year, according to the Government Watchdog’s Office.

Numbers revealed by the entity of accounts pointed that in March the betting activity increased to us$ 99.5 million, compared to us$ 92.4 million of the previous month. By sector, slots received us$ 213 millionin gambles, a 16% increment registered betweeb January and March 2008. The racetrack had a slight increment of  us$ 7,3 to us$ 7,6 million.

The lottery registered an increment of us$ 115,7 to us$ 122 million, while the bingo centers had a us$ 1.1 million. The sports-betting centers observed a decrease of
us$ 8,2 to 7,1 million.

The Panamanian gaming industry registered a quick increment in the latest ten years, with around 15 casinos installed.
