or the past nine years, GIGSE has thrived as a leading premier event for the interactive gaming industry. However, the North America show, which took place annually in Montreal, Canada, took a hit from the UIGEA, as several key exhibitors chose not to attend.
In 2008, GIGSE will evolve into the Global Interactive Gaming Summit for Executives. "We’ve heard from the industry that there is a need for an invitation-only, operator-focused summit...for the igaming industry as it enters its adolescence," said Sue Schneider, CEO of the show’s organiser, Clarion Gaming Americas.
GIGSE in its new format is designed to bring together select business visionaries, with a sprinkling of academic and government leaders. Together, they will explore the past, present and future of this nascent industry which is constantly being reshaped by sometimes surprising changes.
Clarion said that high-profile keynote speakers from outside the industry are currently being secured. In addition, a series of collaborative closed-door discussions, exploring the critical issues for the industry - as chosen by the participants - will be a fundamental aspect of the conference.
GIGSE will be held from May 20-22, 2008, at an as-yet-unnamed five-star resort in Malta.
