According to the organizers, the free admission and free seminar programme that made AmEx 2006 a success will continue in 2007. New exhibitors this year include Breath Alcohol Testers UK Ltd, Donegal Leisure, Elaut Gaming, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, John Ferguson Spares, MDM Leisure, Nostalgic Machines, Sound Sense Electronics and Wessex Coin.
Recent developments in Ireland indicate that in addition to exhibitors and visitors from the amusement and gaming sectors, there will also be considerable interest in AmEx 2007 from those involved in the casino, betting and online gaming sectors. The Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2006, which includes provisions to increase the legal limits on stake and prize money (to Euro 0.50 and Euro 30) in gaming machines (AWPs) is at the Committee Stage in the Dáil (Parliament).
On the other hand, amusement, novelty and redemption games continue to play an important role in the growing Irish coin-op market and jukeboxes, pool tables, video games, touchscreens, pushers, cranes, spares and accessories will be included in the range of equipment presented by exhibitors. There is expected to be considerable interest in gaming, particularly in the light of current AWP, casino, FOBT and online gaming activity, and many new gaming products will be shown, making this an important show from both a gaming and amusement point of view.
In addition to the exhibition there will be a programme of seminars, meetings, business presentations and social gatherings, continuing the show’s reputation for bringing together Irish and international manufacturers, distributors and operators in a businesslike atmosphere.
The Mary Openshaw Memorial Award For Excellence, which was inaugurated at AmEx 2004 in memory of the late Mary Openshaw, the renowned journalist who specialised in the international amusement industry, will be announced once again at AmEx 2007. The first recipient was Eduardo Antoja, President of Euromat - The European Gaming & Amusement Federation; the second recipient was Mike Nevin, Managing Director of Namco Europe and the third recipient was Hans Rosenzweig, former President of Euromat.
