Bally's Corporation, which owns the former Isle of Capri casino, said Friday it received approval for a $40 million redevelopment project for the gaming property now called Casino KC.

The company plans to begin mobilization for construction later this month, which will represent the first step in a full-scale transformation of the property scheduled for completion in the fall of 2022. An official groundbreaking ceremony will take place in August.

"We are improving the entire customer experience at Casino KC from the main entrance to destination dining opportunities, and are revitalizing the property to make our mark as Kansas City's casino of choice," said Mike Donovan, Vice President and General Manager at Casino KC. "We are proud to be a part of the vibrant downtown Kansas City community, and our modern design will complement the scenic Berkley Riverfront."

“Casino KC continues to demonstrate their commitment to our community. This significant reinvestment in the long-neglected riverfront further supports our efforts to transform the Berkley Park neighborhood into a vibrant area for all to enjoy,” said Jon Stephens, President & CEO at Port KC.
