Dan Keene confirmed as CEO of Alberta iGaming Corporation

The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) has appointed Dan Keene as Chief Executive Officer on a permanent basis, effective April 21, 2026. Keene had previously served as interim CEO and is set to oversee the launch of Alberta’s regulated iGaming market on July 13.

Keene has been involved in the establishment of AiGC and previously held several positions at the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC).

“Dan brings deep operational experience and a strong track record in gaming and market development,” said Sanjeev Kad, Board Chair, AiGC. “His leadership will be essential as the Alberta iGaming Corporation prepares for launch and delivers a regulated market built on social responsibility and player protection.”

Keene has served as Vice-President of Gaming at AGLC since July 2022. In that position, he oversaw gaming retail services, technical operations, compliance, online gambling, player loyalty, supply chain activities, electronic gaming, and product development across Alberta.

He also co-led the development of Winner’s Edge, Alberta’s first province-wide casino loyalty program, and directed operations for PlayAlberta.ca, the province’s only regulated online gambling platform.

Prior to that role, Keene worked as Manager of Casino Products at AGLC, where he supervised a team responsible for selecting slot games and terminals for Alberta’s 30 casinos and 750 VLT locations.

Before joining AGLC, Keene held positions with Molson Breweries and Century Casinos Inc.

Alberta’s regulated iGaming framework will allow private operators to participate in a supervised market environment. AiGC will oversee the conduct and management of the market and will enter into operating agreements with approved iGaming operators.

The province confirmed 28 operators for the regulated iGaming market launch in July earlier this month, including several of the largest sportsbook and online casino brands active across North America.
