Resorts World New York City records first $1 million jackpot winner

Resorts World New York City announced that a lucky player won more than $1 million playing a progressive slot machine, marking the first seven-figure jackpot payout in the casino's history.

The guest won $1,009,357.41 at about 1 a.m. on May 14 while playing the Aristocrat Million Dollar Dragon Link progressive slot machine.

The payout came just over two weeks after Resorts World opened what it described as the first full-scale commercial casino in New York City's more than 400-year history.

Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, said: "This is a monumental moment not only for one incredibly lucky New Yorker, but for Resorts World New York City and the entire state." 

“Jackpots like this create excitement for our players while also reinforcing the positive economic impact gaming has on New York City and New York State. When our guests win big, New York wins big,” DeSalvio said.

The winner, a New York City resident who wished to remain anonymous and works in Manhattan, secured the Dragon Link Grand Progressive jackpot during a free spins bonus feature after filling the screen with all 15 orb symbols.

The final payout included the Grand Progressive meter and additional bonus feature winnings.

Resorts World New York City has generated billions of dollars for public education and supports thousands of jobs and local businesses across the region, officials highlighted.
