SiGMA Divas crowns Daniela Candido Prestes at São Paulo poker event

The SiGMA Divas Poker Tournament crowned Daniela Candido Prestes as champion following an all-female event held on April 4 at the Hilton São Paulo Morumbi, as part of the broader SiGMA Poker Tour stop in the city.

The Ladies’ Event, positioned as a strategic component of the tour, drew 82 entries, signalling growing participation and engagement among female players in the poker industry.

Increased accessibility to the game and rising institutional support are contributing to a broader shift toward female participation, with engagement rising as poker undergoes a cultural change.

Prestes secured the top prize of R$7,000 ($1,359) and a package to compete at the SiGMA Poker Tour stop in Mexico, providing an international pathway for further competition.

Anna Catrin María finished second, earning R$5,000, while Cristiane Ferreira Santos placed third with R$3,500.

The tournament also recognised Sonia Regina Gagliano Alves, the bubble finisher, who received a SiGMA Poker Tour Malta Special Edition package.

The final table featured nine players, highlighting a diverse field of competitors. The Divas format continues to serve as an entry point for new players trying to establish their poker careers while also providing more established players the opportunity to reach new heights of performance.

Beyond competition, the event emphasised community and collaboration among participants. The line-up of competitive female players that participated exemplifies how much the female community is dominating the poker industry right now, SiGMA said.

The initiative forms part of SiGMA’s broader strategy to promote diversity and inclusion within the game. By incorporating female-focused initiatives at several of its larger tour venues, SiGMA is helping to create a more equitable and inclusive poker landscape.
