The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has sent 12 cease-and-desist letters to offshore operators illegally offering online casino games and sports betting to Michigan residents.
The letters target operators of 31 Bets Casino, Betnuvo, BetPhoenix, Booty.bet, Jackpotter, Kings Chance Casino, Mybitcoin Casino, Starbets, The Virtual Casino, This Is Vegas, Vegas Strip Casino, and xWin90. Investigations found that these sites were providing unlicensed casino-style games or sports betting, violating state law.
The MGCB warned that unauthorized operators carry significant risks, including no player protections, no guarantee of fair games, and no recourse for disputes or withheld winnings. Residents are urged to use only licensed platforms listed on the MGCB website.
Under the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, Lawful Sports Betting Act, and related state statutes, companies must hold MGCB licenses to offer online gaming or sports wagering. Operators ignoring cease-and-desist orders may face additional enforcement actions.
“Illegal online gambling sites operate without oversight, putting players at risk and undermining Michigan’s secure, regulated marketplace,” said MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams. “We will continue to take relentless, decisive action to prevent unlicensed operators from targeting Michigan residents and ensure that all gaming is conducted lawfully and responsibly."
Michigan residents who encounter illegal gambling sites or suspicious activity can report it to the MGCB via email at [email protected] or by calling 1-888-314-2682.
