Clarion Gaming announced a series of new sustainability measures for its flagship 2026 events, ICE and iGB Affiliate Barcelona, expanding its efforts to reduce environmental impact across one of the gaming industry’s largest global exhibition platforms.
The initiatives include the launch of a Better Stands Initiative and a Most Sustainable Stand Award, both open to more than 700 exhibitors expected at the shows taking place at Fira Barcelona Gran Via from January 19–21, 2026. Clarion will also introduce eco-friendly badge wallets for the 65,000-plus attendees anticipated to visit both events.
The Better Stands Initiative forms part of a broader international programme aimed at cutting waste from exhibition builds by encouraging the use of reusable and sustainably sourced structures. Exhibitors will be assessed and certified at bronze, silver, or gold levels based on their compliance with sustainability criteria.
As part of the StandOut Awards, exhibitors achieving Gold-level Better Stands certification can apply for the Most Sustainable Stand accolade. Applications must include a sustainability statement outlining stand design, travel methods, use of digital materials, and other commitments to waste reduction.
Clarion’s sustainability team will evaluate entries and shortlist three finalists each for ICE and iGB Affiliate, with winners to be announced on January 23, 2026.
Margaret Dunn, Portfolio Director at Clarion Gaming, said the expanded initiatives reflect the company’s long-term goals. “Alongside the Sustainable Stand Awards, we run a range of initiatives that aim to minimise the environmental impact of our events, such as offering eco-friendly badge wallets for the first time at ICE," Dunn stated. "Through these initiatives, we aim not only to promote social and environmental responsibility in the gaming community, but also to be part of the change.”
