Macau’s casino revenue rose 15.9% in October from a year earlier to MOP24.09 billion ($3.01 billion), the highest monthly total since pre-pandemic October 2019, data from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) showed on Saturday.

The figure was up 31.7% from September and surpassed the previous post-pandemic record of MOP22.16 billion ($2.77 billion) set in August. Observers said a higher monthly total was last seen before the COVID-19 outbreak.

The October result came despite a Signal No.8 storm warning linked to Typhoon Matmo that suspended public transport and disrupted tourism during the Golden Week holiday.

For the first 10 months of 2025, Macau’s gross gaming revenue reached MOP205.43 billion ($25.66 billion), up 8% from the same period last year.

Analysts said early October demand was slowed by typhoon disruptions, the timing of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the diversion of high-end players to Singapore during the Formula 1 Grand Prix. They added that revenue recovered later in the month as some premium players postponed visits originally planned for Golden Week.

Casino operators had signalled confidence in the result, with MGM China saying it expected October to be one of its strongest months based on early indicators.
