The age-old casino dilemma, whether to bet on red or black, finally has an answer, as in a weeklong global poll hosted by Gambling.com, the public chose red as the ultimate favorite, ending years of playful debate among casino fans.
The interactive event, titled “Red or Black?”, ran from October 7 to 14 on a digital billboard along the Las Vegas Strip. More than 14,000 people cast their votes, with 7,783 choosing red and 6,367 siding with black, officially crowning red as the people’s choice.
The campaign was organized by Gambling.com, a global online casino comparison and review platform, and was described as a first-of-its-kind live voting experience. The digital billboard displayed real-time vote updates every 60 seconds, inviting both locals and visitors to weigh in through the website or social media while also entering a draw to win a VIP Las Vegas experience.
While rooted in the city’s vibrant casino culture, the campaign drew international attention. According to Gambling.com, the “Red or Black?” vote reached over one million people on X (formerly Twitter) and generated more than five million impressions across all social media channels.
The spectacle coincided with a busy week in Las Vegas, with G2E industry professionals in town for the annual gaming expo and crowds attending major sporting events, including the Raiders, Golden Knights, and UNLV games. The billboard became a focal point on the Strip, capturing the attention of tourists and residents alike.
Dean Ryan, Marketing Director at Gambling.com, reflected on the campaign’s impact.
“Our world-first interactive Las Vegas billboard has proved to be a hit, with thousands of casino players in Las Vegas and across the world taking part in our Red or Black campaign. The famous Las Vegas Strip really was the perfect backdrop for this debate to be housed, but the global interest outside of Sin City itself really adds additional weight to the final verdict,” he said.
