The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has launched a new online Self-Assessment Tool to help players evaluate their gambling habits and promote responsible play.
Available in both English and Maltese, the tool allows individuals to reflect on their gambling habits and behaviours in a confidential and anonymous manner. It is free to use and accessible to everyone.
Developed in collaboration with leading local organisations — Sedqa, Caritas Malta, the OASI Foundation, and the Responsible Gaming Foundation — the initiative aims to provide practical support for those seeking to understand their relationship with gambling.
The assessment is based on the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI), an internationally recognised, evidence-based questionnaire. Comprising nine simple questions, the tool evaluates gambling behaviour while considering social and environmental factors.
Users receive instant feedback and, if needed, are directed to professional support services from the partner organisations. The tool also provides information on safer gambling options, including spending limits and bet-blocking tools.
The MGA said the initiative reinforces its commitment to player protection and encourages players to use the tool regularly to monitor any changes in their gambling behaviour.
