Ceuta launches new Tech Hub to attract global innovation

Ceuta has unveiled the Ceuta Tech Hub, a project designed to transform the city into a center for innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. The initiative seeks to create a dynamic ecosystem for startups and digital companies, offering conditions aimed at fostering sustainable growth and international competitiveness.

A central feature of the hub is its distinctive tax framework, which sets it apart within Europe. Companies that establish operations in Ceuta can benefit from corporate tax breaks, income tax reductions of up to 60%, advantages in social security contributions, and a notably low Tax on Production, Services, and Imports (IPSI) for digital activities.

Unlike the rest of Spain and the European Union, Ceuta does not apply VAT, replacing it with IPSI, which carries a general rate of 4%. The Assembly of the Autonomous City of Ceuta has also approved a super-reduced rate of 0.5% for services such as advertising, customer service centers, and electronically supplied services.

Located at the intersection of Europe and Africa, Ceuta aims to leverage its geographical position alongside these fiscal advantages to present itself as an attractive hub for business expansion and digital innovation. Officials describe the hub as a platform not only to encourage investment but also to strengthen the city’s long-term economic diversification strategy.

The project’s international profile will be raised at two upcoming industry gatherings. Ceuta Tech Hub will be presented at MERGE Madrid, taking place from October 7 to 9, and at the European Blockchain Convention (EBC) from October 16 to 17. At both events, the city plans to highlight its competitive advantages, forge strategic alliances, and secure recognition on the global innovation map.
