SuperBet has paid over €30 million (US$35 million) to its Romanian players following a technical glitch in Playtech’s slot game Fire Blaze Red Wizard. The malfunction, which lasted several hours last Saturday, triggered guaranteed wins on every spin, SBC News reported.
More than 7,500 accounts were affected, and tens of millions in winnings were generated. SuperBet initially froze the accounts, but later confirmed all payouts would be honored, citing its commitment to customer trust.
“We are known as the betting and casino operator that pays out every win, regardless of the amount,” the company said. “As those who accept all bets and any stake on games. And we don’t want that to change.”
Romanian media have reported that the glitch cost SuperBet over €30 million in just a few hours, marking one of the largest technical payouts in European gambling history. The company said the decision to honor winnings was driven by a desire to protect brand trust and maintain its reputation in the Romanian market, despite the significant financial impact.
Founded in 2008 by Sacha Drăgic, SuperBet has become a leading online gambling operator in Romania and recently secured €1.3 billion from US private equity firm Blackstone for international expansion.
