The 56th edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) concluded on July 16, bringing an end to eight weeks of tournament play at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas. This year’s series, marked by record-breaking participation and prize pools, highlighted the continued momentum of live tournament poker.
A total of 246,960 entries were recorded across the series, the highest in WSOP history. Total prize money reached $481.7 million, surpassing all previous records. In all, 37,311 payouts were made, another all-time high. The 2025 series also saw 43 players earn prizes of $1 million or more.
“The poker renaissance was on full display at the 2025 WSOP,” said Ty Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of WSOP. “If you missed the amazing action, the good news is that you can inevitably expect bigger and better next year. A sincere thank you to every player and staffer who came to Las Vegas and made this a summer to remember.”
This year’s lineup included several landmark events. The $1,500 buy-in Millionaire Maker No-Limit Hold’em (Event #53) attracted 11,996 entries, the largest ever for that price point. The $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship No-Limit Hold’em (Event #89) drew 3,797 entries, the most in its category, while the Mystery Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha (Event #86) saw 5,284 participants, making it the largest PLO field in live tournament history.
Fifty-seven events crossed the $2 million prize pool mark, and nine tournaments surpassed $10 million in prize money, both setting new benchmarks for the annual series.
This summer’s series also introduced the WSOP+ app, which helped streamline operations by reducing registration wait times, contributing to a smoother tournament experience.
The summer festivities on the Strip drew a mix of celebrity appearances and familiar poker pros, all competing for WSOP gold bracelets and a share of the expanding prize pools.
While the main series has concluded, the WSOP Circuit (WSOP-C) 2025 Season Part 2 is already in progress. WSOP Europe is set to run from September 12 to October 8, with the Main Event beginning on October 3. The WSOP Paradise event is scheduled to return to the Bahamas from December 4 to 18.
