MGM China has launched a new initiative aimed at bolstering responsible gaming awareness among its employees in Macau, as part of a broader commitment to promoting sustainable industry practices and supporting government-led campaigns.

The “MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program” was rolled out across the company’s MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI properties, attracting close to 1,300 team members over a two-week period. Activities included interactive roadshows, online quizzes, themed workshops, and the release of a short film performed entirely by MGM employees.

The campaign, held under the theme “Gambling is Not Business, Stay in Control,” builds on MGM’s long-running support for responsible gaming measures in the region. The company has provided more than 32,000 hours of responsible gaming training to date, averaging 1.5 hours per employee annually.

Workshops held in early December offered deeper insight into gambling behavior and risks, including topics such as gambling probability, common myths, debt-related dangers, and early identification of problem gambling. About 200 employees attended the sessions.

A central component of the initiative was MGM’s fourth internally produced short film, which promotes use of the company’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The film, distributed via social media platforms, encourages employees and their families to seek help when facing gambling-related or personal difficulties.

The program was developed in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including the Social Welfare Bureau of Macao SAR, the Education and Youth Development Bureau, University of Macau, and Macao Polytechnic University. It was co-organized with labor and youth organizations, aligning with the previously launched “MGM RG Community Engagement Scheme.”

“Together, the two programs will initiate an internal and external dual-track approach which will not only promote social advocacy but also strengthen the professional skills of employees,” said Tian Han, MGM’s Executive Vice President of Gaming Operations & Strategic Marketing.

“We aspire to leverage diverse and innovative approaches in this new program to reinforce our team members’ understanding and execution on responsible gaming while building a solid foundation for the long-term stability and sustainable development of society,” the company said.

MGM said it will continue working with community partners and authorities to promote responsible gambling practices and support Macau’s policies aimed at fostering a healthy and harmonious society.
