Rivers Casino Portsmouth and Rush Street Gaming have announced plans to break ground on The Landing Hotel Portsmouth this summer.
The $65 million project was revealed by Mayor Shannon Glover during the Portsmouth State of the City meeting on May 2, held at the casino’s Event Center.
The hotel will add 106 rooms, including 32 suites, and create around 200 temporary construction jobs and 60 permanent positions. It is expected to generate additional local revenue from gaming, dining, and events. The hotel is projected to open in early 2027.
“A hotel was always part of the casino’s masterplan, and we’re excited to be moving forward as expected,” said Tim Drehkoff, CEO of Rush Street Gaming and Rivers Casino Portsmouth. “The Landing Hotel Portsmouth will be Rush Street’s fourth casino hotel, custom-designed for the greater Hampton Roads market."
The eight-story hotel will feature spacious rooms and luxury suites, with an award-winning design by KOO Architecture & Interiors. Amenities will include a Lobby Bar, executive boardrooms, complimentary breakfast, and direct access to The Event Center and casino restaurants. The Landing Hotel Portsmouth will be a non-smoking facility, with access to the gaming floor restricted to guests over the age of 21.
“The Landing Hotel Portsmouth is more than just a beautiful new addition to our skyline,” said Glover. “It’s a symbol of Rivers Casino’s positive impact on Portsmouth and our continued rise as a regional entertainment destination.”
The Landing Hotel Portsmouth will be independently owned and operated by Rivers Casino and Rush Street Gaming. It will be the company’s fourth casino hotel, joining properties in Pittsburgh, Schenectady, and Philadelphia.
