SBC Summit Malta 2025 is set to offer an in-depth exploration of Europe’s changing regulatory landscape with a full-day track dedicated to legal and compliance matters across the continent.

Scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, at the InterContinental Hotel in St. Julian’s, the ‘Europe: Regulation & Compliance’ track will deliver a series of expert-led sessions focusing on the complex and varied regulatory frameworks shaping the region's gambling industry.

The event will feature six discussions aimed at providing practical insights into navigating jurisdictional challenges, understanding market-specific regulations, and responding to growing concerns over black market activity.

According to SBC Founder and CEO Rasmus Sojmark, the track is designed to equip stakeholders with the strategic clarity needed to operate successfully in Europe’s fragmented regulatory environment.

Europe is home to a diverse array of unique markets, each featuring distinct regulatory frameworks,” said Sojmark. “For those operating in this diverse landscape, staying informed on the latest regulatory developments is essential for success.”

Attendees can expect focused discussions on major markets such as the UK, Germany, and Italy, alongside presentations addressing regulatory shifts in Malta and Curaçao.

Topics will include licensing reforms, channelization issues, and the role of compliance in building sustainable industry practices. One session, titled Italy’s New Gambling Licence Regime, will examine recent changes to the country’s licensing model and their implications for operators.

Another, UK Regulation: Setting the Standard or Stifling the Sector?, will assess whether the UK’s evolving regulatory policies are driving responsible gambling or pushing players toward unlicensed platforms.

Germany’s regulatory direction will be the focus of Germany’s Gambling Market Faces Channelisation Challenges Amid Regulatory Pressures, a session that will explore how restrictive policies may be contributing to the growth of unregulated gambling. Presentations will also provide regional overviews, with one focusing on the  Nordic landscape and another delving specifically into Finland’s market conditions.

The summit will also address two jurisdictions currently undergoing regulatory transitions. Malta Gaming Authority 2025/2026: Building a Sustainable Gaming Future will outline changes in compliance standards, anti-money laundering measures, and player protection, as well as the effects of Bill No. 55.

Meanwhile, Curaçao’s New LOK Licensing Framework: Six Months In, What’s Next? will offer an open Q&A format, reviewing how operators are responding to Curaçao’s updated approach, with special attention given to cryptocurrency integration and responsible gambling obligations.

Adding a global perspective, the session Black, Grey, and New Regulated Markets: Navigating the Shifting Regulatory Landscape will assess how operators are adjusting to regulatory volatility in markets such as the Netherlands, Brazil, the Philippines, Finland, and New Zealand. Panelists will also examine the UK Gambling Commission’s revised operator levy and its anticipated effects on market behavior and responsible gambling initiatives.

Confirmed speakers include a range of senior executives and compliance leaders, such as Aideen Shortt of the Curaçao Gaming Authority, Alexandre Tomic of Alea, Christopher Coyne of 888AFRICA, Sam Brown of Rootz, and Reuben Portanier of GTG.
