Kindred announced Thursday it will continue to expand across Arizona after teaming up with Turf Paradise to obtain nine Limited Event Wagering Operator (LEWO) licenses to operate sports betting in the state and further increase Unibet brand’s awareness in that market.
A couple of months after launching Unibet’s first retail sportsbook lounge in Arizona at Paradise Casino in Yuma, Unibet and its partners have been awarded with nine LEWO licenses, which allow Unibet to conduct wagering in Turf Paradise, Brookside II, Charley’s Sports Grill, Gallagher’s 16th, Gallagher’s Baseline, Harold’s, R.T. O’Sullivan, Boston’s Bar and Midtown Tavern.

In an official press release, Manuel Stan, SVP North America, Kindred Group, spoke about these new licenses and said: “Being awarded nine of the ten LEWO licenses is a great outcome for Kindred, Turf Paradise and our partners in the State. This is a great opportunity for Kindred Group to expand the Unibet brand in Arizona and build on the early success in the State. Over the next few months, we will work closely with our partners to prepare the launches in the different locations and are excited to be able to bring our best-in-class product to more customers in Arizona".
Meanwhile, Arizona is moving forward in its road to consolidating the state’s three regulators -the Arizona Racing Commission, the Arizona State Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts Commission, and the Department of Gaming- into a single, new state gaming commission. In late February, it was passed by the Arizona House Rules Committee and moved to a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing.
Arizona’s nine mobile sports betting sites, plus two in-person sportsbooks operating in downtown Phoenix took about $467 million in total wagers for November, which was the third operational month since its legalization. With November's wagers, Arizona has become the fastest state to top $1 billion in total bets placed of all legal markets.
