California's San Manuel Casino holds three-day expo to hire 2K employees

San Manuel Casino is holding a three-day, virtual hiring expo that will seek over 2,000 new employees at the resort and the casino owned by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, California.

From March 29-31, the expo is looking to fill more than 2,000 “permanent, full-time jobs slated for the end of 2021,” according to the tribe. “We decided to expand the expo into a three-day event, to give candidates an abundance of opportunity to network with San Manuel leadership, attend career guidance webinar sessions, and participate in virtual job interviews,” Peter Arceo, General Manager, said in a statement.

Casino and most entertainment venues were shuttered briefly at the start of the pandemic, leading to furloughs and layoffs. Tribal casinos, which are sovereign, reopened using new protocols including capacity limits, temperature checks and social distancing.

San Manuel Casino is looking to finish a multimillion-dollar expansion this year. Those plans include a hotel tower, originally scheduled to open in mid-2021, and expected to be complete at the end of 2021, and an entertainment center that will open to the public in 2022, as reported by The Orange County Register.

Jobs at the casino and resort will run from culinary roles to casino floor positions. Applicants can take part in the entire three-day hiring event, or they can attend select sessions. The first day is informational, the second is for networking and the third for interviews. Activities take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days.

Using virtual booths, the tribal casino will share information on positions in cage operations, facilities, slots, safety, table games, housekeeping, groundskeeping and culinary operations. San Manuel said its hiring managers will be making “on-the-spot offers, as well as conducting pre-employment checks to expedite the hiring process.”
