The new mobile and online platform is available as of July 7. Customers must first administer the Betfred app at the casino before it can be used for mobile sports wagering.

Betfred USA Sports mobile and online platform launched Tuesday at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort in Larchwood, Iowa.

In accordance with Iowa state law passed in 2019, customers must first administer the Betfred app in the casino, before it can be used for mobile sports wagering. This applies to all mobile sports wagering in the state, and remains the rule through January 1, 2021.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds allowed casinos and race tracks, among other businesses, to reopen at 50 percent capacity as of June 1. Later that month, the Iowa legislature voted to forbid the use of credit cards for wagering on sporting events through Iowa-based casinos.

In May, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved betting on esports through contests, but it rejected a formal request by the Iowa Gaming Association, which supports the state’s 19 casinos, to allow casino wagering on esports.
