Eldorado Resorts is furloughing thousands of casino workers starting April 11, according to a letter sent to employees last week and reported by News 4-Fox 11.
The letter, dated April 6, said furloughs would be at the corporate and property levels starting last Saturday. Eldorado Resorts owns the Eldorado, Circus Circus and Silver Legacy in downtown Reno, collectively referred to as "The Row."
All Nevada casinos have been closed since mid-March, when Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the closure of all nonessential businesses amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Furthermore, the letter reads that the company’s “remaining corporate and property leadership teams, along with our Board of Directors, will be taking pay cuts during this period.” All workers enrolled in the Eldorado's health plans will continue to get their full benefits until June 30, the letter says. Workers will automatically be paid their available paid time off, up to a maximum of 80 hours.
“We have been pleased to continue to pay our full-time Team Members wages, including tips and tokes, and benefits through April 10th amidst the temporary closure of all of our properties,” the letter reads. “However, with the recently announced extensions of many of these closures, we now need to make difficult decisions to help preserve our liquidity and be prepared for the day when we are able to resume operations.”
