In October, the G2E Sports Betting Symposium (SBS) will be returning with industry experts for its second year. Through the AGA Innovation Lab, technology will play an important part in the education program, which will include topics such as gaming leadership, tribal gaming, non-gaming growth opportunities, eSports and next-generation games. Carrison expects that sports betting and the technologies on display will be focal points this year.

Korbi Carrison, Global Gaming Expo’s event director, looks ahead to G2E 2019 and the newest advancements and additions to the show, which returns to The Sands Expo across October 14-17 in Las Vegas. The education program will be held October 14-17, and the Expo Hall will be available October 15-17.

How do you move forward and build on the successes from Global Gaming Expo 2018?

As the world’s premier event for the casino gaming industry, Global Gaming Expo must continually deliver what’s relevant and exciting to our attendees year to year. We strive to make G2E a better platform every year for companies to grow their businesses, by using feedback from previous events and looking forward to identifying big-impact opportunities on the horizon. 2019’s event will be no different. Our education program is developing nicely with topics including gaming leadership and tribal gaming, and the popular G2E Sports Betting Symposium (SBS) will be returning for its second year.

What do you think will be some major topics at G2E this year?

Sports betting continues to be at the forefront of everyone’s mind. States are now actively taking steps to legalize and regulate sports betting, with the number of stakeholders increasing daily. Since the Supreme Court’s May 2018 repeal of PASPA, the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, regulators, operators and technology providers have been learning how to successfully navigate this new landscape – from both the public and private sector perspective. G2E’s Sports Betting Symposium will be back for a second year, bringing sports betting industry experts to help map out the future of legal sports betting in the United States. Innovation and technology will also play an important part in our education program through the AGA Innovation Lab located in the expo hall and in the regular education sessions.

What are your hopes for the event?

While the education and networking opportunities at G2E are tremendous, the offerings in the expo hall are the buzz of the show. We hope that everyone is as excited as we are to see the new technologies that debut and evolve from year to year not only in the core gaming segment, but also with gaming peripherals and non-gaming products and services. The industry is evolving quickly and there are sure to be some real hidden gems just waiting to be discovered in the expo hall.

What are the main differences between this year’s event and last years?

Anyone that attends G2E 2019 will get an inside look at cutting-edge developments in slots, table games, security, sports betting technologies, casino design, casino management systems, staff resources and casino marketing solutions. I expect that the technologies on display this year will be above and beyond what the industry has seen before. We’ll present enhanced educational programming on topics including tribal gaming, sports betting, responsible gaming, non-gaming growth opportunities, eSports, next-generation games, and financial compliance.

Why is this an event everyone in the industry should attend?

The networking and business opportunities at G2E are second to none. The industry convergence on a single venue to meet up with current and former associates to conduct business and socialize is unparalleled. We continue to push the envelope, look at the current landscape and see how we can best activate G2E in a way that’s most valuable to the gaming industry.
