Colombia: potential gamblers could reach 75%

Colombians’ preferred choices are “Chance” and “Baloto” lottery games, and casinos. They spend an average of USD 74 per capita and that sum is expected to amount to USD 120 in 2018.

This sector provides funds for over a million Colombians. It also generates 300.000 direct and indirect jobs, and taxes imposed on this industry produce over USD 166.737.000.

President of the Colombian Federation of Bingo and Casino Businessmen (FECOLJUEGOS) Evert Montero Cárdenas, claims that there are 85,000 thousand legal slots and 80,000 illegal slots in the country.

“We are talking about a number of potential gamblers representing approximately 54% in the country who in one way or another, have placed bets at some point, and that number is expected to reach 75%,” he stated.
