Twenty casinos were nominated, according to USA Today’s 10Best.com, which announced the awards last week. The website chose the list of nominees with the help of Lisa Robertson-Dziedzic, editorial director of Casino Player and Strictly Slots magazines, and Tony Harrell, a travel agent specializing in casino travel.
“We’re honored to have topped that list,” Ray Pineault, president and general manager of Mohegan Sun, said in a statement. “It’s a testament to our whole team and how driven we are to provide the best possible entertainment and gaming attraction we can.”
Mohegan Sun was ranked No. 2 in the same voting in 2015.
In addition, Mohegan Sun’s entertainment venue, Mohegan Sun Arena, was ranked the third-best venue in the world among those seating from 5,001 to 10,000 people by Venues Today, a leading entertainment trade publication.
In the USA Today 10 Best balloting, the other top casinos were: Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino; Pechanga Resort & Casino, Temecula, Calif.; L'Auberge Casino Resort, Lake Charles, La.; Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Atlantic City; Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Reno, Nev.; The Cromwell Hotel, Las Vegas; Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Sioux City, Iowa; and Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, Las Vegas.
