Madrid Government will be sued by the US operator, which believes that the application process suffered very serious irregularities. The rejection of the US$3.5 billion integrated resort in the area also generated the outrage from Torres de la Alameda local government, where the project would take place.
Sources of the local government said that the project would generate 57,000 direct and indirect employments, of which 18,000 would be high-quality jobs.
Engracia Hidalgo, Madrid Councellor of Finance and Employment, had affirmed: “The project does not have relevance from a financial, leisure and cultural point of view, and does not have enough impact.” However, Cordish sources said that the complex would generate 195 million euros annually in tax collection.
