International Game Technology PLC was recently recognized by the CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) 2016 Climate Change Program. As part of the recognition, IGT was noted for effectively reducing emissions, indicating advanced environmental stewardship.

IGT scored higher than the industry sector average, and the overall average score of all responding companies. This acknowledgment signals that IGT is measuring and managing its environmental impact in line with the Paris Agreement goals set in 2015 to limit global warming. This is also IGT's first recognition in Climate Change Management since becoming one Company after legacy GTECH and legacy IGT merged in 2015.

As part of the review, IGT was cited for:

Creating several Environmental Management Systems, which are in accordance with the ISO 14001 global standard;

Obtaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification in Reno, Nevada, as awarded by the United States Green Building Council;

Developing a project to reduce the energy consumption of its Data Centers to consolidate at a global level; and

Increasing the efficiency of the shipment of goods to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions at its Italian operations.

"IGT is committed to continuously improving its energy efficiency initiatives," said Robert K. Vincent, IGT Executive Vice President, Administrative Services and External Relations.

"We intend to take actions to further reduce emissions and energy consumption ratios. In addition, we will engage our supply chain to ensure that our suppliers are working to limit greenhouse gas emissions."

The CDP is an independent, non-profit organization that manages a global disclosure system for companies to manage their environmental impacts, and for investors to access environmental information for use in financial decisions. Each year CDP requires the largest companies by market capitalization to participate in its Climate Change Program, although companies can also participate voluntarily. According to the CDP, disclosure has never been more important, and action starts with transparency. As a result, IGT chose to voluntarily participate in the program.
