Las Vegas-style casinos could bring in 10 million annual visitors to Mexico within two years.

That is the view of the president of the Mexican Association of Hotels and Motels, Rafael Garcia González. Casinos in Cancun and the Riviera Maya could bring Mexico’s annual tourist figures to 40 million visitors a year, he said.

Mexico’s House of Representatives approved a bill last year creating gambling zones for casinos in Los Cabos, Acapulco and Riviera Maya. Casinos would require a minimum $15m investment.
