Scientific Games director steps down over regulatory role

A director of lottery and slot machine supplier Scientific Games Corp has resigned from the board. William C. Thompson Jr – who had been elected to the board with effect from March 5 – stepped down after the company learned he cannot simultaneously serve on both the Scientific Games board and the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board.
Mr Thompson currently serves on the latter.
Scientific Games said in a filing to Nasdaq on Friday that he had informed the firm about his choice to resign immediately. The filing added there was no disagreement between Mr Thompson and the company.
The New York State Gaming Facility Location Board is a body created by the New York State Gaming Commission. According to the commission’s website, the board evaluates casino applications and “ultimately makes selections of who is eligible to apply for a commercial gaming license in New York State”.
