(US).- Scientific Games announced that World Class Millions, a USD 30 instant game designed by the company for the Massachusetts State Lottery, has received the 2014 Best New Instant Game Award from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL).

The award was recently announced at NASPL’s Annual Conference and Trade Show in Atlantic City, New Jersey. World Class Millions was selected as the Best New Instant Game by a panel of judges who reviewed entries from North American lotteries, including the U.S. and Canada.

“Introducing a $30 price point to our instant game portfolio was a very strategic step and World Class Millions has proven to be a record-breaker in Massachusetts,” said Beth Bresnahan, Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery. “We are so honored that the industry has recognized the game’s success and the thought put into its development and launch with NASPL’s prestigious Best New Instant Game Award.”

Since its release on April 22, World Class Millions has generated over $322.6 million in sales. The third week following the game’s launch in April produced total instant game sales of more than $80.1 million – the highest single week sales total in Massachusetts State Lottery history.

The first $30 lottery game offered to Massachusetts consumers, World Class Millions features a simulated foil gold background with high-impact complementary colors. The game mechanics include 2X, 5X, 10X, 20X and 100X multipliers, a $100 automatic winner and 30 chances to win – the most ever offered in a Massachusetts game. World Class Millions also features an exciting 2nd Chance promotion – five drawings that each offer a top prize of $1 million, and more than 1,100 prizes ranging from $100 to $10,000.

The Second Chance promotion allowed the Lottery to enhance the new game’s positioning with an “even non-winning games can turn into millions” message. Part of the game’s success has been credited to response to the Second Chance promotion with an unprecedented 22 percent of players who purchased the game entering the promotion online.

“Scientific Games and the Massachusetts State Lottery have a long and storied history together and we are delighted that World Class Millions has received this prestigious industry award,” said John Schulz, Senior Vice President, Instant Products for Scientific Games. “Our product management teams reviewed years of sales data, focus group findings, prize structures and new game designs to develop this game. A multi-dimensional analytical approach was then implemented to balance the right mix of games and prize structures in the Lottery’s instant product portfolio.”

Forty years ago, Massachusetts introduced the lottery industry’s first secure instant game developed by Scientific Games. The Lottery is ranked first in the world for instant per capita sales (La Fleur’s FY2013).
