Spanish online gaming revenue drops, but still higher than last year

(Spain).- Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), the Spanish gaming regulator, reported a drop in online gaming revenue during the second quarter of 2014. The regulatory body reported gross gaming revenue of USD 74.7 million for the three months through the end of June, a 13% fall in the first quarter. The figure was however, 6.7% higher than the corresponding quarter of 2013.

The DGOJ noted that advertising on betting-related advertising, sponsorship and promotion campaigns increased by nearly 40% on a quarter-to-quarter basis to €23 million.


The total value of player withdrawals was €101 million – an 11% increase on the previous quarter and a 27% increase year-on-year.

 

Online gaming became regulated in Spain in June 2012.
