A statewide survey by Tulchin Research found in an initial vote when citizens were given no information about the economic benefits of online poker that 62% would support regulation while 28% would oppose. However, after being informed of how the state could benefit economically from online poker, total support increased to 68% while opposition dropped slightly to 27%.
In a statement, Tulchin Research said: “This poll clearly shows California voters want online poker regulated and taxed in a way to maximise the benefit for the state and its citizens while also ensuring the safety of participants.”
The research was conducted among 800 likely voters via telephone interviews from April 15-21, 2014.
