The main regional operators were present at SAGSE, pointing to the event’s importance for gambling firms with presence in Latin America. Joining them were a string of national and international regulators, lending the show a touch of business professionalism.
Opinions on this year’s SAGSE were mixed. Some exhibitors - such as Novomatic and Suzo - highlighted the very good business volume and contacts made. Others were struck by the low turnout and limited product offer.
One of the highlights was the “Golden Eagle” prize ceremony for executives. This year it went to Dr Guillermo Gabella in part for his critical role in driving the growth of the Boldt Group.
Ahead of SAGSE’s opening, the 2nd edition of ‘Global Gaming Women – Latam’ got underway, with Host News booth (128B) inviting women visitors to listen to Annie Millet, President of Destino Argentina. A renowned figure in the tourism sector, Millet shared her insights and experience to a rapt audience.
The challenges going forward will be, first, to fully harness the interest shown by visitors at the event, who were fewer in number but richer in expertise, and second, to help recapture SAGSE’s and Argentina’s prominent role in the gambling world by securing the support of the main manufacturers, which, through their their exhibitions, gave the event and its host country a strong vote of confidence.
