What is your overall take on this year's G2E?
There was a great buzz on the show floor that reflected the good attendance of visitors in terms of quality and quantity as well as a wide variety of innovative products and services being showcased. We are seeing a more positive mood with operators starting to invest again as market conditions improve. From TCS John Huxley’s viewpoint, G2E was a great show – we launched the full system of our Supernova Progressive as well as the new Elite 2 display and some exciting proprietary games.
What was the highlight for TCS?
The launch of our full Supernova Progressive Platform was definitely the main focus generating a lot of interest from visitors. Supernova is a powerful Floor Wide Event and Mystery Progressive platform that can adapt to almost any table game and allows operators to configure as many different prizes and jackpots as they want. Supernova delivers incremental profits and gives fast return on investment.
Since March, we have installed over 50 tables in South Africa alone which will rise to 63 by the end of the year, with some operators reporting side bet revenues doubling within a matter of weeks and one casino reporting an additional 10,000 side bets wagered over a weekend. Supernova is attracting players, creating great excitement and increasing revenues. We had a great response to the product at the show and can expect the same success in the US when it’s rolled out.
Supernova was also recognized winning Best Table Game Product Innovation at the 12th Annual Global Gaming Business, Gaming & Technology Awards – a great endorsement to the product.
Certain trends have emerged in the slots sector – how do you see things evolving for gaming tables?
The table gaming space has often been viewed as the traditional side of the industry, with stand alone products and technology. We have fantastic products but until now they were not able to communicate with each other. Our new Xia platform has been developed as a whole new back end system, which will allow all our products to be integrated and collect data from each other. Its open platform architecture allows easy integration with other products and systems currently available in the market. This connectivity provides operators with powerful real time data so they can manage their businesses more efficiently and profitably.
Has TCS developed any product for the online market? Considering the economic problems of Europe and the US in recent years, what are the priority markets for the company to continue growing, and why?
We have spent the past 12 months positioning for growth by investing in our infrastructure, our products and our people. The extraordinary expansion of the Asia Pacific market is driving innovation and we are focusing heavily in this region having appointed our Lead Director of Product and Development as well as substantially increasing our team in Macau. We are working with our customers and developing products and services for the expanding Asian market, which in turn brings benefits to the wider global industry.
We also see the US and Latin America as key regions and are focusing on developing our already strong presence with new products and services.
