(Macau).- MGM China Holdings’s project in Cotai is on track to be complete in mid-2016, chief executive Grant Bowie said. “We’ll have the foundations finished by the end of this year… and with the contractor now on board we can obviously start building the infrastructure in 2014,” Bowie told Business Daily.

China State Construction International Holdings has signed a us$ 1.35-billion deal to act as the main contractor for the project. Bowie said there was no need to again revise the resort’s us$ 2.6-billion budget. The budget was increased by us$ 100 million this year.

Bowie added he is confident the quality of the casino-resort, built on one of Cotai’s smallest building sites, will appeal to customers over a long period of time. MGM China was granted a 71,833-square-metre site in January.
