The two companies had adjacent stands at the show and both were coy about any financial arrangements in the deal, but both spoke of their commitment to the Spanish street and arcades markets, which are suffering badly at present through the Spanish recession.
Aristocrat games for the arcades and bars in Spain will be available to GiGames as well as deployment in other sectors, including casinos. Aristocrat sees the deal as a benefit to its move into the bars sector, having already made inroads into the arcades business in Spain. “We are seeking to maximise opportunities in Spain through this partnership,” said the company in a statement.
Pedro de Matos, for Aristocrat, said: “GiGames offers an established, significant domestic install base and a national logistics and rapid response network vital to our operational needs. Their local knowledge and expertise in this market provide the perfect match. Customers will benefit from not only the ready availability of our games but also a national back-up service that is so crucial in a diverse mix of single and multi-site venues.”
