He will take over as chairman on 1 July, with current Betsson Malta CEO Magnus Silfverberg stepping up to fill the role of group CEO.
“As every other department is growing we need to do the same in top management, and that is what we are doing by upgrading Magnus. He really knows the company, and that is vastly important in this landscape.”

The announcement follows the appointment of David Björk as managing director of Betsson Business Solutions in January, the former Deloitte and PriceWaterhouse Coopers consultant replacing Jonas Konstantinov.

The company recorded its largest ever quarterly revenue in Q4 2010, and hopes to push on after its customer deposits crossed the SEK1bn threshold for the first time ever.

Lindwall told eGaming Review that he will continue to work full-time for the company, while also working with the board and taking a key role in strategic decisions.

“I will work on the strategic side, and we need to look at keeping up the pace at which the company develops, and make sure we can continue on the road we are going down.”

He confirmed that Betsson is yet to decide on who will replace Silfverberg as CEO of Betsson Malta, and could not confirm whether the new incumbent will come from within the company or externally.

Following movements in Italy and China earlier this year, Lindwall admitted that further expansion could be set to follow. “As always, we have a lot of possibilities and a lot of projects in place,” he added.
