An opposition MP, Palusalue Fa’apo the Second, said he expects the government will eventually allow everybody to go gambling in casinos. He stated that it is now inevitable because the government won't make enough off foreign gamblers, according to Radio New Zealand.

Palusalue says he is very disappointed the bill has been passed. He says when the government realises it is not making enough money off tourists, the casinos will be open to everyone.

“Most of the tourists come here to enjoy the green environment and also the beaches, they don’t come here especially to play casino. So whoever gets a license, I’m sure they won’t have any financial benefit from it so I’m predicting that when they don’t get any profits from these casino license they will eventually open up for any people in Samoa to play in the casinos.”

Palusalue Fa’apo the Second says the only way to stop casinos from coming in to Samoa now is to vote the government out at next year’s general election.
