PokerStars LAPT adds Peru event

"We are both pleased and excited to announce Lima, Peru as a new stop on the Latin American Poker Tour," said LAPT President David Carrion.

"This event is the result of a warm collaboration and partnership between the LAPT, the Atlantic City Casino in Lima, and the broader Municipality of Miraflores. Together we will create an exhilarating event where players from dozens of different countries are going to travel here and find a unique experience in this outstanding setting."

In addition the main event, there will be several smaller buy-in side events and a high stakes cash game.

Manuel Masias, the Mayor of Miroflores, mentioned the region was an ideal location for poker players looking for a vacation. "We are thrilled to host such a prestigious event as an LAPT in Miraflores," he said. "It will be a great opportunity to offer a taste of the local Peruvian sights, sounds and culture to the international community."

Last month PokerStars made the decision to cancel LAPT Vina Del Mar in light of the catastrophic 8.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Chile, approximately 175 miles from the host casino.
