Sazka is the oldest and largest lottery operator in the Czech Republic and the deal will see Gtech continue to provide online lottery products and services while also installing and operating a new IP-telecommunications network.
Providence-based Gtech is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Italian Lottomatica, one of the world’s largest commercial lottery operators, and stated that the deal would commence from January of 2018 generating revenues of approximately 120 million euros. “Gtech looks forward to continuing the strong relationship the company has developed with Sazka since 1993,” said Jaymin Patel, President and CEO for Gtech.
“As this partnership with Sazka continues, we will work closely to build optimal growth plans and supporting initiatives, ensuring their continued and long-term success. We are very pleased to be a part of building Sazka’s future strategy and are grateful for this expression of confidence on the part of our customer.”
The extension will see Gtech continue to operate and maintain Sazka’s online and instant ticket system as well as the over 7,000 Internet lottery terminals already in operation. The American firm stated that it would also be investing in and upgrading Sazka’s existing communications infrastructure to a new satellite-based IP network.
“With Sazka, Gtech has now extended 14 contracts over the past 15 months, a noteworthy achievement as the majority of these extensions were granted beyond the initial terms of the original contract,” said Patel. “This is a testament to the company’s skills and competencies but also to the value of the partnerships we have cultivated with our customers, such as Sazka, over the years.”
