Isle of Man: Law changes to shape future of e-gaming industry
Bartlett has more than 40 years' experience in the betting and gambling industry and is currently chairman of the Association of British Bookmakers. His firm, Global Betting and Gaming Consultants, is an independent consultancy providing data, research and advice to the international gambling industry.
More than 70 members of the Junior Chamber attended his presentation, where he told them: “I think the single biggest issue facing the e-gaming sector for the next five to six years is going to be changes to law. That's whether the United States market will open up and whether the free market will win out in Europe.”
The Isle of Man is recognised as a leading jurisdiction in the e-gaming industry. Several e-gaming operations have chosen to base their business here and the sector overall now employs some 500 people locally, taking advantage of a world class ICT infrastructure.
The Isle of Man Government states it is committed to the ongoing development of the e-gaming sector, with the Department of Trade and Industry responsible for the promotion and development of the industry.
