The mixed development takes place when an investor carries on a casino project with slots and table games. It charges the state a percentage as a rent of the venue.
The projects will be used to favour the establishment of infraestructure in different places that have to do with tourism, sports, with commercial or cultural activities. With this initiative, the government looks to strenghten sectors that cannot develop because of the budget difficulties of the state, which result in restrictions to invest in items such as tourism or sports.
According to what the Casino Director said some time ago, the government do not want more than one venue to be installed per city. If there are places that already have a casino and several projects are presented, the government will just choose one.
Currently, the mixed system is in force in seven venues: four from Hípica Rioplatense, and the one that operates in Victoria Plaza Hotel, Radisson in Colonia and Mantra Punta del Este. The numbers prove this “successful” association because, of the U$S 150 million in income of the state casinos, the 70% comes from mixed casinos.
