Marcus joined William Hill in January as part of its five-year deal with online gambling software developer Playtech Limited that furnished the London-based operator with enhanced online poker and casino capabilities. The agreement also saw William Hill acquire marketing companies Uniplay International and Six Digits Trading.

“The reason for leaving is that we have just had a big restructure of the business and a number of the functions I manage have moved to Tel Aviv and it was mutually agreed that I wasn’t interested in carrying on with fewer functions,” said Marcus.

William Hill announced three weeks ago that it would be relocating its online operations from the UK to Gibraltar in order to benefit from cost savings already achieved by other offshore operators. The move will see 75 employees move to the self-governing British overseas territory with its sportsbook and games businesses operating under a Gibraltar licence.

“We are ambitious for William Hill Online to be a successful online betting and gaming business on the international stage,” said Ralph Topping, CEO for William Hill.

“Having acquired European-focused websites, global marketing and multi-lingual customer services capabilities, this is the logical next step in our development of this business. William Hill Online has an increasingly international customer base and this move will ensure we are well positioned to compete on an international stage.”
