Minnesota extends Gtech lottery contract

The deal is expected to be worth us$ 25 million in revenues to Gtech over the duration of the contract commencing February 2013.

Under the agreement, Gtech will continue to provide online lottery technology, as well as additional self-service and multimedia products to the Minnesota State Lottery. The firm has been the online lottery services provider to the Minnesota State Lottery since 2002.

Minnesota State Lottery Executive Director, Clint Harris, added: “This contract extension provides additional equipment that will help us to grow sales and offers substantial cost savings over the life of the contract, we look forward to continuing the strong relationship that we have developed with Gtech since 2002.”

Gtech was recently notified that the Louisiana Lottery Corporation had awarded another vendor the contract to provide lottery services to the state, a contract which Gtech has held since 1991 and which expires in July 2010. It is expected that Gtech rival Intralot is the likely winner of the 10-year Louisiana contract.
