Numerous sources are quoting “specialist publications in France, citing a source within the Brackley-based team” that Bwin will be the main sponsor of the Brawn GP team when the sport’s 60th season begins on March 29 in Melbourne.
Brawn GP is the new name of the former Honda team, which pulled out of the sport at the end of last season due to the current economic downturn, and features past Ferrari technical guru Ross Brawn at the helm with drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.
The sources reported that the Vienna-based gaming giant has been in contact with Bernie Ecclestone, President and CEO for Formula One Management, the group of companies responsible for the promotion of the sport, and that Brawn GP’s Mercedes-powered BGP001 car will carry yellow and black Bwin.com branding.
Bwin has been very active in the field of prominent sports sponsorships in the past including multi-million deals with MotoGP as well as soccer teams Real Madrid and AC Milan.
