SeGob closed 25 betting centres during 2008

(Mexico).- In 2008, Mexican Segob, through its General Direction of Games and Draws, performed 59 operations against illegal gaming in the country, from 30 reports they have received.

The number was less than the figure registered in 2007, when 83 operations were performed, with 45 reports, according to information from the Deputy Direction of Control and Surveillance of Games and Draws, through a demand of access to information.

Even so, numbers of Segob point that, from September 2007 to August 2008, the fight to illegal gaming has a result of 2,259 slots in the Mini-Casino Style, as well as 128 professional-style machines, on top of suspending the performance of five draws that did not count with the respective authorization.

Besides, “in places where illegal gaming activity is held, there have been set operations to close establishments in which cock-fighting or clandestine horse-races are performed, as well as places in which illegal slots operate, according to the Federal Law of Games of Chance and its ruling”.

In total, Segob closed 25 centers in which different illegal games were performed. Adult entertainment generates, in Mexico, investments of us$ 1,5 billion and has created more than 35,000 employments, on top of an important profitability in the cities in which gambling venues are set.

In 2008, the entity closed more than 2,000 slots and 25 illegal gambling venues. Segob, through its General Games and Draw Direction, performed 59 operations against illegal gaming in the whole country, derived from 30 reports.
